Well, today is finally here – the launch of my new website (and dreaded blog – aargh)!
Having spent hours playing around with layout, colours, fonts, galleries and sizing, I finally have it finished…….almost! (I could spend weeks more procrastinating over the size of the gaps between the lines, or the font used in the headers but, in the grand scheme of things, are they really that important?!)
I’ve never managed a blog before but thought I best try to get with the times – I’ve mastered the basics of Facebook and Instagram now and am soon going to enlist the help of my teenage daughter to start using Instagram stories! Go me!
The online virtual “Shop” shelves are still to be stocked and hope that won’t be too long away. Prints, greeting cards and basic invitations are on the list so far – I’m wondering whether to offer an electronic digital download option too for people to purchase, rather than purely printed products? Feel free to post in the comments below regarding the types of things you’d like to be able to access at the click of a button in the Shop and also whether digital downloads would be of interest?
For anybody who never saw my old site I can assure you this is such an improvement! People buy from people, so they say, and I agree with that completely, hence the reason for this new Blog feature where I intend to show you a little behind the scenes of my day-to-day workings. When I’m browsing websites if I can get a feel for how the owner works and also of their beliefs and passions, it really does encourage me to delve further into the site and potentially buy, so watch this space for some behind the scenes action shots as well as wedding industry features, for couples who are due to marry, to try to help plan their day……..feel free to subscribe to Polka Dot Creations by entering your email address in the box to the right (notice the lovely matching amethyst colour scheme – I did that – yay!) and I’ll keep you updated of any discounts I will be offering.
Well, that’s it for Blog post number 1 – how did I do??
