We understand that by just seeing pictures alone it is hard to tell the actual quality of an item. This is why we offer a samples service for wedding stationery for you to see for yourself the fantastic quality of invitations and accompanying stationery that we can offer. We have to charge a small fee for this, which is £5.00 per sample to cover materials and some production time. The sample would usually be the wedding invitation itself however, if you would also like to see a place name sample or table number then please don’t hesitate to get in touch by completing the online form or calling.
Placing an Order
When you are ready to place an order then please contact us to go through your exact requirements – the reason we don’t have an online “cart” system for invitation orders is that we treat each order individually and would rather have had communication beforehand in order to ensure that the stationery we design for you is exactly what you are looking for – a more personal approach.
As a general rule most wedding orders are processed in 3 stages:
Stage 1 – sample ordered to check colour, design and quality of invitations.
Stage 2 – invitations ordered (or Save the Date cards should these be required first, followed by invitations a few weeks or months later).
Stage 3 – matching items such as place cards, table numbers, table plan etc, should these be required. Please see Other Wedding Stationery for other matching item ideas to tie in with your theme.
Please allow around 4 weeks in order for your handmade invitations to be completed – this allows for a sample to be put together in the colour you request and sent to you, for proofs to be approved and for the final invitations to be completed. Should you require them any sooner than 4 weeks then please don’t hesitate to get in contact and we can advise whether we can complete them quicker depending on other orders that we are currently working on and of course the design that you are looking at. For printed designs which have minimal handmade elements to them then this timeframe could be much sooner than 4 weeks.
It is usual to send out invitations around 3-6 months before the wedding date, but this will vary for each wedding. Save the Date cards are often used now to advise your guests that they will soon be receiving an invitation. These are usually sent out around 9 months before the wedding or even up to 12 months if you are getting married abroad or have lots of guests travelling.
All samples cost £5.00 each (including postage) and this is required as soon as you request a sample.
When you place an order a deposit of 50% is required. The remainder of the payment is due just before the final product is ready to be shipped to you and we will contact you to advise when this payment is due. We will generally split the invoice into two parts – the first invoice being the invitations (or Save the Date cards and invitations) and the second invoice for any matching items which are requested for on the wedding day itself. We can accept payment by PayPal or direct bank transfer (bank transfer preferred).
Once the wording for the invitation inserts have been finalised, we will send you an electronic version (usually PDF) to approve. Any changes can be advised by email or over the phone. We will then put together another proof for you to approve until a final proof is signed off. Please double check these proofs very carefully – should there be any changes requested after this final proof has been approved then a charge will be applied in order to cover costs of materials used in items that had already been produced.
For items such as place name cards which you have asked us to print, you are fully responsible for the accuracy in the spelling of names. Should any changes be requested after the place names have been printed/assembled then a small charge will be applied.
A postage charge ranging between £4.00 and £10.00 is generally made for all invitation orders within the UK – the exact postage fee will be advised upon placing the order. We will advise costs for delivery of any other items such as table numbers, place cards, table plans etc. once we know how many items are being ordered.
If you would rather collect your items in person you are more than welcome to come and collect (the design studio is located around 6 miles south of Lincoln) and then no postage fee will be applied. If you are based outside of the UK please ask for details of postage prices.
Cancellations and refunds
As all of our products are handmade to order we cannot provide refunds once orders have been sent out (unless faulty of course – please call straight away if you have found any faults with our products at all).
If you want to cancel an order after the 50% deposit has been paid then this deposit is generally not refundable – please call to discuss. If you want to cancel and work has already started on the invitations themselves, then a further charge will be made for work undertaken to that point.
